Cowboy Portraits - Ashley portrait - Dallas western Photographer
Western-Inspired Portraits
This western-styled portrait shoot was inspired by the wide open spaces just north of FT Worth, TX. I had a chance to meet up with an old friend, Ashley, and we collaborated on this quick western shoot.
The goal was to capture a few western-inspired outfits while chasing the sunset for the evening.
Collaborating in Justin, TX
If you're not from the area, Justin, TX, is just north of Fort Worth, TX, and a bit south of Denton, TX, along Highway 35W.
New housing developments are completely transforming the area, and lots of new commercial real estate is coming into the booming little city.
Even with all the commercial and residential structures, there are still plenty of wide-open fields where you can run around and enjoy the beautiful sunsets of Texas.
Dallas Photographer
Ashley was a natural in front of the camera. I've had the privilege of collaborating with her for the past 6+ years.
We love to catch up and see how life has changed in the fast-paced cities of Dallas and beyond.
She smiled and danced, and we laughed the entire session as we realized that sometimes in life, you need a small reminder to slow down and smell the incredible aroma of BBQ from small mom-and-pop shops around the countryside.
Chasing Sunsets in North Ft Worth
Before you knew it, hours had passed, and we were in full sprint mode chasing the ever-moving sun.
We ended up in Ponder, TX, taking photos in the downtown area and other small setups we discovered.
From old trucks to a live band playing excellent background music as we shot portraits, I could ask for no better way to spend the evening capturing photography.
Dancing In The Fields
For sunset, we ended back in Justin, TX, in our comfort field of dreams. This small vacant lot was perfect, as no other large buildings or structures would impede the beautiful Texas sky.
Ashley quickly made one last change in her outfit, and the rest is history. She danced and moved in front of my camera, and we squeezed every last drop of sunlight out of the evening until we could shoot no more.
Creative Photography Session
This session was a beautiful example of the possibilities of limited gear and a creative idea. I carried only one camera and one lens for the evening and relied on natural light the rest of the way.
It was cloudy and overcast until the sun kissed the horizon, but overall, I love the outcome of this small portrait shoot.
